The Space Between
I am drawn to spaces between, and what it means to be sandwiched in physically and emotionally. Those spaces, difficult to capture because they have strong inward aspects, have a sense of two outsides, like slices of bread or book covers. This has led to carved and constructed sculptures of sandwiches and books.
At the same time, I have strived to create those "spaces between" in more abstract sculptures, highlighting figure and ground, attempting to emphasize the vibration between the two.
